Mental Arithmetic is a method of calculation that does not require the use of any physical instrument such as an abacus, electronic calculator or any other primitive or state-of-the-art implementation instrument. It is done solely in the mind.
In “ABACUS AND MENTAL ARITHMETIC” training course begins with a basic class which uses lively and interesting way of finger calculation, which develops a child’s motor skill. The interaction lessons motivate students to learn as well as help to interrelate hand movements with mind functions. Through this initial step of learning, student begins to develop their concentration level.
Then students start to learn formula and master abacus skill, which enables a student to project an imaginary abacus in mind. In these levels numbers will be converted into beads of abacus in the students’ mind with very systematic practice sessions. As a result students’ mental calculation skills will be developed and gradually the imaginary abacus will not be needed. In the advance classes, students will be able to develop the skill with amazingly fast mental calculation just by looking at numbers.

III. COURSE SCHEDULE
The course is divided into total 8 levels. Only Level 01 is divided into 2 sub-levels: Level 01
Standard and Level 01 Advanced. Students have to attend a 2-hour class each week.
Currently classes are held in the following schedule

Level – 01 Standard: 3 months
Level – 01 Advanced: 3 months
Level – 02 : 3 months
Level – 03 : 3 months
Level – 04 : 3 months
Level – 05 : 3 months
Level – 06 : 3 months
Level – 07 : 3 months
Level – 08 : 3 months
Class timing:
Friday: 09:00 am to 11:00 am, 3:45 pm to 5:45 pm and 06:00 pm to 08:00 pm
Saturday: 09:00 am to 11:00 am, 3:45 pm to 5:45 pm and 06:00 pm to 08:00 pm
Tuesday: 3:45 pm to 5:45 pm and 06:00 pm to 08:00 pm
Level completion exam will be held at the last week of each level and upon successfully passing the end of Level exams – each student will be contingent to acquire International certificates for each level issued directly from Smart Brain Headquarters in Thailand.
Smart Brain Bangladesh will arrange National Level Abacus and Mental Arithmetic competitions for students from all the centers in Bangladesh.
The top winners from this competition will be sponsored by Smart Brain Bangladesh to represent Bangladesh in the International Abacus and Mental Arithmetic competition held every year.
IV. REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION
Students age limit: 5 to 15 years
Students ID: A clear photo copy of birth certificate/ passport of the student
Additional papers:
- 1. 2 recent passport size photographs of the student (Photograph must not be older than 3 months),
- 2. 2 recent passport size photograph of the guardian(s) who wish to pick up the student after end of each class,
- 3. 3. 1 filled up admission form collected from the center office
